Osho Evening Meditation

A meditation that starts at 7 pm., consisting of two stages, followed by a video discource, lasting generally 1-1½ hours. It is a meditation of celebration and is practiced by many Osho centres worldwide at 7.00 pm. local time as suggested by Osho.

"This is a song of meditation. Hakuin has called it 'song' - yes it is a song. If meditation is without a song it is dull and dead - it does not beat, it does not breathe. It is a song and a dance: sing it and dance it. Just don't think upon it - then you will miss the message, you will miss its content. You will find this song and its meaning only when you are singing and dancing. When the music of life has overtaken you, has possessed you."

Excerpt from, "This Very Body the Buddha"

1. stage

10 minutes of high-energy body movement punctuated by shouts of "Osho". You can either stand and dance on the spot, or sit and dance with just your head and arms. A total participation in this build-up of energy brings a deeper quiet to the meditation that follows.

Participants are encouraged to wear white (if possible) to support the common energyfield.

2. stage

10 minutes of sitting in absolute stillness with eyes closed. Indian music alternates with periods of complete silence, and this stage ends with three drumbeats. Osho has described the silence in the meditation auditorium in Poona (India) during this meditation as "so solid you can almost touch it." At the end there are a few more minutes of soft music to bridge the meditation with preparations to view the video.

3. stage

Osho video or audio discourse lasting usually 45 min. - 1 hour.
